In this climate of uncertainty and incessant change it is very easy to get caught up in the fear and unknown being systematically generated; when will it end, what will the World look like, will there be toilet paper in the shelves of my local IGA ever again? I’ve been using this enforced solitude to reconnect with my “Why” and wanted to explore this further.
What is a “Why” I hear you ask! A “Why” is in essence your sense of purpose. Having a clear sense of purpose enables you to focus your efforts on what matters most, compelling you to take risks and push forward regardless of the odds or obstacles be they perceived or real. Reconnecting with your own “Why” when the World around you is seemingly disconnected is a very powerful tool to stay motivated and perhaps even move your life onto an entirely new, more challenging, and more rewarding trajectory. This applies both in a personal and business sense and is equally powerful and relevant in both realms.
“He who has a why can endure any how.”
German philosopher Frederick Nietzsche once said, “He who has a why can endure any how.” Knowing your “Why” is an important first step in figuring out how to achieve the goals that excite you and create a life you enjoy living as opposed to merely going through the motions and surviving. In uncovering your “Why” it is important to challenge yourself with leading questions to get into the depths of it all but more about that in a later article about discovering your “Why”
So, there it is. I encourage and implore you to take the time to find or reconnect with your “Why” and wield it as a weapon of empowerment in your life.
